Manchester United handed boost as Douglas Costa inches closer to Bayern exit

05 June 2017 - 08:19

Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost as Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has no intention of keeping Douglas Costa at the club and is ready to listen to offers for the winger.

  • Chelsea want Crystal Palace star to bolster defence
  • Chelsea to target Carlos Baleba if Enzo Fernandez leaves?

  • Douglas Costa has not been able to take his game to the next level at Bayern Munich since his €30 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk. The player has not hit double figures in terms of goals in his career, scoring seven in his past two seasons at Bayern Munich.

German newspaper Bild reported that Carlos Ancelotti has lost faith in the winger, as shown by his limited game time this season, and will be open to offers for Brazilian.

This has put Manchester United on red alert as Mourinho wants to inject some speed into his attacking line. His six assists this season will also be of interest to Portuguese who has witnessed a lack of conviction in the final third of play from his United side.

Bayern are still looking to make a profit off Costa and have slapped a price tag of €40 million on the player.

Manchester United will face competition from the likes of Tottenham who want to replace the underperforming Moussa Sissoko and Juventus, who are preparing for life after Paulo Dybala following their loss in the Champions League final.
