Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is seemingly confident of luring Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
The Italy international has been rock solid in the Old Lady defence alongside Giorgio Chiellini, and this has enhanced his reputation at club and country over the past few years.
Bonucci had been linked with a potential switch to the Premier League last summer with both Manchester City and Chelsea expressing an interest, but the player decided to stay put owing to the ill-health of his son.
According to The Sun, the Premier League holders could try again for Bonucci this summer with Conte eager to work with Bonucci following stints at Juventus and Italy.
The back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill had performed well during the league triumph last term, but there is still a place for a world-class defender, should Conte opt to switch Azpilicueta into the right wing-back position.
Bonucci had a rift with manager Max Allegri earlier in the season, but he assured that all is well following an apology to the head coach.
