Manchester United are apparently close to pursuing the signature of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof. The Red Devils have agreed on a £35m sum with the Primeira Liga outfit, and it is left for the player to undergo a medical.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Portuguese outlet Record claims that the Mancunian giants have wrapped up an agreement for the highly-rated defender, who is currently on international duty with Sweden.

It is added that the 22-year-old has decided to complete the formalities following his nation's World Cup qualifier against France which holds key to their automatic qualification.

Lindelof celebrated a domestic double with Benfica during the previous campaign, and he is undoubtedly one of the best upcoming prospects in European football.

The Swede can ply his trade at either centre-back or right-back, and this provides Mourinho with options, should he decide to add more competition for Antonio Valencia.

Lindelof was initially expected at Old Trafford in the winter transfer window before the Special One intervened to pause the deal owing to the impressive form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
