Costa says Chelsea will decide his future

Diego Costa was apparently told by Antonio Conte that he is not part of his plans next season

Costa says Chelsea will decide his future

11 June 2017 - 22:47

Diego Costa looks to be on his way out of Chelsea, after the now infamous text message that he received from manager Antonio Conte was leaked, stating that he was not part of the Italian manager's future plans. Speaking today, Costa says it is Chelsea, not him, that will decide what comes next.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Spain international Costa scored in his country's 2-1 World Cup qualifier against Macedonia and spoke afterwards about his future.

He told BBC Sport that "I don't know about my future. I have a contract with Chelsea and they are the ones who know what they will do with me. I have to wait to see what decision my club makes."

AC Milan are amongst the teams that are competing to sign Diego Costa, with the information that he is unwanted by Conte giving potential buyers the opportunity to look for a cut-price deal.

There also remains interest from the Chinese Super League, where Costa was strongly linked with a move to during the January transfer window.

Costa has admitted in the past that he would like a move back to former club Atletico Madrid, but the La Liga side have recently been issued a transfer ban by FIFA, meaning that such a deal is not possible at this time.
