Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make Man United comeback

United could offer short-term contract to Ibra

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make Man United comeback

12 June 2017 - 05:52

Manchester United are open to offering a short-term contract to Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season, should he manage to prove his fitness following his recovery from a double cruciate ligament damage.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The former Sweden international suffered the nasty injury during the Europa League quarter-finals against Anderlecht, and he has since undergone a surgery which has effectively ruled him out for the remainder of the year.

As a result, the Red Devils backed off from offering Ibrahimovic a one-year extension on his contract as they were not willing to waste a hefty £19m a year salary on a player who is nursing a long-term injury.

According to The Sun, the big Swede could make his United return in the New Year, if he is capable of making a successful recovery following the operation.

The 35-year-old is due to remain with his ex-club to continue his rehabilitation, but a return to United next year may not quite guarantee him regular playing time.

Manchester United are on the search for a world-class striker to add to their ranks, and it appears that Alvaro Morata is their leading targets as Mourinho eyes a reunion with the Real Madrid marksman.
