Sweden international and Benfica defender Victor Lindelof has arrived at Manchester United's Carrington base in order to undergo a medical and agree terms over a long-term deal.

  • The 22-year-old is due to ink a five-year contract with the Mancunian giants today after the club agreed on a £35m fee to pursue his signature from Portuguese champions Benfica.

Lindelof had been on United's radar as early as January, but Mourinho put a stop on the proposed move due to the form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo in the central defensive department.

Manchester United confirmed earlier last week that an agreement had been placed with Benfica to acquire the versatile defender, and he is likely to be introduced with a photo shoot following his medical today.

Lindelof can also feature at right-back in additional to his regular centre-back role, and this provides Mourinho with options, should Antonio Valencia break down at any stage of the 2017/18 season.

Former club Vasteras are due to bag a handsome sum of over £3m via a sell-on clause agreed on prior to his move to Benfica.
