West Ham United have reportedly pulled out of the chase for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling ahead of this summer's transfer window.
The England international is facing an uncertain future beyond the summer following the arrival of Victor Lindelof at Old Trafford earlier in the week.
Smalling has attracted interest from both Everton and Arsenal over the past year and there had been a suggestion that the Hammers could lodge a potential attempt for his services.
However, according to The Star, Slaven Bilic had dropped his interest in the Premier League regular with the club in need of further strengthening in other departments.
Bilic has the likes of Winston Reid, Jose Fonte, Angelo Ogbonna, James Collins and Reece Oxford to occupy the central defensive positions, and he has made it a priority to bolster other areas.
Smalling is expected to be valued at around £15m this summer with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion among the other contenders for his signature.
The 27-year-old made just 18 league appearances last season as Manchester United finished a lowly sixth in the standings.
