Chelsea join race for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Chelsea join race for Oxlade-Chamberlain

As contract renewal talks continue to stall, Premier League champions Chelsea are set to join the race to sign Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. With a year remaining on his current deal, The Gunners are hoping to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but an agreement is yet to be reached.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Oxlade-Chamberlain was rumoured to be unsettled at The Emirates last season due to a lack of game time under manager Arsene Wenger. In later periods of the season, he did make more appearances, most of which were in an unfavoured right wing-back position, however.

Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with the England international and now The Mirror reports that Antonio Conte's Chelsea are now set to join the race.

Conte is looking to add depth to his squad as Chelsea have to combine their Premier League title defence with the addition of Champions League football next season.

Losing Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a big blow for Wenger's Arsenal, as they look to challenge at the top of the league again next season. Seeing him join a rival Premier League club would be even worse and could just come back to haunt them in the future.
