Barcelona open to Ivan Rakitic sale

Rakitic on the move?

Barcelona open to Ivan Rakitic sale

20 June 2017 - 05:49

Barcelona will reportedly part ways with Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic, should they pursue the services of Marco Verratti this summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Verratti has been strongly tipped for a Paris Saint-Germain exit with the Catalan giants prepared to lodge a club-record £88m bid for the Italy international.

As a result, Rakitic's future has come into question with the former Sevilla man apparently attracting plenty of Premier League interest, Mundo Deportivo reports.

Rakitic has been a regular at the Catalonia-based club in recent years, but the arrival of Verratti could urge Ernesto Valverde to offload the 29-year-old.

The Champions League winner has amassed 26 goals in 159 outings for Barcelona since arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2014.

Rakitic inked a fresh four-and-a-half year deal with Barcelona earlier in March, but this has not diminished speculation over his future.

Manchester United remain one of his key admirers from the Premier League while there is also Serie A interest from Juventus, who are on the search for a new enforcer.
