Real Madrid president confirms interest in Donnarumma

Florentino Perez has gone on record and confirmed Real Madrid are a huge admirer of AC Milan's Donnarumma and are interested in bringing the goalkeeper to the Bernabeu.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Gianluigi Donnarumma recently shocked AC Milan by rejecting a contract extension, just weeks after saying he wanted to become a club captain and legend. His agent, Mino Raiola stated that the reason for the rejection of a new deal was due to a "hostile" and "violent" environment.

He also accused Milan of "bullying" his client as he claimed the club threatened Donnaruma by saying he will be ousted from the first team squad should be refuse to sign a contract extension.

All of this has sent Europe into a frenzy as multiple clubs are now lining up to acquire the services of the shot-stopper touted to be the heir to Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon. Manchester United, Juventus, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid were reported to be interested.

However, Madrid president Florentino Perez has now come on record to confirm the club's interest.

He was quoted by Italian news outlet Football Italia in an interview with Radio Onda Cero as saying: "Everyone in the world says he's a great player, who will replace Buffon in the national team."

"We're definitely following him, but I can't tell you everything we do."

The 18-year-old Donnarumma had another brilliant season as the young goalkeeper continues to show maturity beyond his years. In total, he kept 12 clean sheets, had 41 clearances and 146 saves.
