Arsenal defender flies to Italy for transfer talks

Germany international defender Shkodran Mustafi has flown to Italy to meet Inter Milan representatives regarding a loan transfer move. The centre-back has been surprisingly told by Arsenal that he is free to leave the club.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Gunners, who have so far struggled this Premier League campaign shipping 8 goals in 3 games, have decided to part company with the German centre-back as manager Arsene Wenger insists that defender Rob Holding is a quality replacement for the World Cup winning defender.

Mustafi will be allowed to spend this season on loan with Inter Milan and the Serie A side have requested an option to sign the German defender on a permanent basis for around 35 million euros.

The 35 million euro price comes at a significant loss to the Gunners, who paid £35 million to Valencia for Mustafi just last summer.

Mustafi has four years remaining on his Arsenal deal and Gunners fans have taken to social media to complain about the defender's impending departure.
