Sergio Aguero suffers broken ribs in car crash, out of Chelsea clash

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident in the Netherlands which has left him with a  fractured rib. The Argentine could miss up to two months of first-team action.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Argentine had made his way to Amsterdam to attend a music concert featuring Colombian star Maluma, but the taxi which he was travelling in, careered into a lamp post, Sky Sports News claims.

Aguero is said to have worn a seat belt during his travel, and this has limited his injury to broken ribs. The striker is now certain to miss Saturday's crunch encounter against Chelsea.

He could potentially be out for around eight weeks, thus making him a major doubt for the Premier League game against Arsenal in early November.

Manchester City have not yet released an official statement regarding the injury but former club Independiente have wished him a quick recovery following the accident.

“Force and speedy recovery @aguerosergiokun! All @Independiente is with you at this difficult time,” the club wrote on their official Twitter account.

Aguero has been a crucial player for the Citizens this term with six goals in the Premier League, and his potential absence could offer Leroy Sane a regular spot in the starting lineup.
