Leeds United to move for Liverpool striker?

04 October 2017 - 10:41

Championship regulars Leeds United are planning an approach to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings in the New Year. The former Burnley man has struggled to make an impact at Anfield with multiple knee injuries hampering his progress.

  • Ings has found first-team chances hard to come by this season with only appearances coming as a second-half substitute in Liverpool's 2-0 defeat League Cup defeat to Leicester City.

According to ESPN, Garry Monk's side are desperate to bolster their forward options in the New Year having lost Chris Wood to Burnley during the dying stages of the summer transfer window.

The Yorkshire giants have secured just a solitary point in their recent trips Millwall, Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday respectively, and this has increased the need for a new marksman.

Leeds have often fallen short of their quest for top-flight promotion, but the club are keen to end their wait by recruiting a striker of Ings' calibre to their ranks.

Ings notched 21 goals during his previous Championship campaign with Burnley in 2013/14 as they were promoted to the top tier. Sead Dyche's side have since been relegated only to return as a stronger outfit in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has netted four goals in 12 outings for the Reds since arriving from Turf Moor for a compensated fee of £8m in the summer of 2015.
