Wilshere has been on a run of good form this season

The unexpected resurgence of Jack Wilshere

21 October 2017 - 04:42

Wilshere put in another fantastic performance in the Europa League against Red Star Belgrade as he led Arsenal to a crucial 1-0 win.

  • Chelsea to miss out on Ivorian sensation to Arsenal?
  • Man Utd winger returns to training after injury blow

  • Arsene Wenger continued to put his faith in Wilshere for Arsenal's European campaign and the England international duly repaid it with a commanding performance in the middle of the park.

He kickstarted the brilliant move that led to Giroud's overhead kick goal, dribbling past four players before playing the ball into Walcott, who eventually assisted the Frenchman.

The praises flooded in after the match. Arsenal legend Martin Keown said of Wilshere: "He punches a hole through the midfield which doesn't exist - it's what mere mortals could only dream of." He also revealed that Arsenal players and staffs have been saying that Wilshere's standard in training is extremely high at the moment, according to The Sun.

Arsene Wenger also admitted that it will be hard to leave Wilshere out of a Premier League game for Arsenal, given his current form. He might be the creative spark Arsene Wenger needs to add dimensions to an Arsenal offense that is lacking goals in the league.

His statistics in the Europa League illustrates his current form. In three appearances, he has an average pass accuracy of 89 percent and has won 62 percent of duels. He has also created 5 chances overall.

With recent rumours surrounding Ozil's potential move to Manchester United, Arsene Wenger might have the perfect replacement in a resurgent Wilshere.
