Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has politely turned down the prospect of owning a luxury villa after helping Egypt qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1990.

  • The 25-year-old was instrumental towards the Pharaohs' return to the global tournament after he scored a brace in the 2-1 triumph over Congo earlier this month.

According to Egyptian outlet Yallakora, the former Chelsea man was offered a holiday villa by former Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas. However, the forward rejected the approach, and instead urged Abbas to make a donation to his native village of Nagrig, located 130 kilometres away from the country's capital Cairo.

The Egyptian already has his former school in Basyoun named after him as ''Mohamed Salah Industrial High School', while the same has been done at the player's former youth academy.

Salah has made a bright start to his career with Liverpool, and he recently bagged two goals and an assist in the 7-0 thumping of Maribor in the Champions League.
