Southampton are reportedly eyeing a reunion with Luke Shaw, should Ryan Bertrand leave the club during the winter transfer window.
The England international managed just 11 top-flight appearances for United last term with Jose Mourinho criticising him for his poor attitude on the playing field.
Shaw has yet to feature in to earn a Premier League outing for United this term, and according to The Mirror, he could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
Manchester City are said to be keeping tabs on Ryan Bertrand, and his potential exit from South Coast could encourage the Saints' pursuit of Shaw. The 28-year-old currently has more than three years left on his Saints deal, but the club are willing to cash in on his services for the right price in January.
Shaw notched 67 appearances for Southampton prior to his £27m move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2014. He is currently behind the likes of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind for a role on the left side of the Manchester United defence.
