Southampton plot move for former Manchester City striker

Southampton are reportedly considering an approach for former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic. The Montenegrin footballer is currently in the ranks of AS Monaco whom he joined from Inter Milan last summer.

  • Jovetic, 28, signed a four-year contract with the French champions in August, and he has since managed just five appearances in Ligue 1.

According to The Mirror, the South Coast outfit will look to pursue a new hitman in the New Year despite having the likes of Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini in their ranks.

Mauricio Pellegrino's side have found just nine goals in the opening 11 Premier League games, and they have earmarked Jovetic as their leading striker target for the January transfer window.

The marksman is presently 'unhappy' with his reduced playing time at the Principality outfit, and this gives the Saints the opportunity to lure him back to the Premier League.

Jovetic had an injury-stricken spell at Manchester City between 2013 and 2016 where he amassed 11 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
