Liverpool's Inter glee

20 February 2008 - 13:20

Liverpool look set for an incredible move into the next round of the Champions League after last night completing a fantastic victory over Inter Milan last night by 2-0. Inter hadn't lost a game all season in Serie A.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The Italian league leaders managed to keep the home side at bay for 85 minutes, despite having Marco Materazzi sent off midway through the first half.

However, two goals from Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard in the closing minutes of the game gave Liverpool the advantage ahead of the second leg in two weeks' time.

The victory is likely to ease some of the pressure on Reds manager Rafael Benitez following last weekend's embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Barnsley.
