Liverpool yet to resolve Can's situation

Liverpool boss delivers fresh update on Emre Can's future

30 March 2018 - 14:49

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stressed that nothing has been sorted out with midfielder Emre Can. The Germany international has just three months left on his existing deal with the Reds.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Can, 24, has been regularly linked with a switch to Juventus, and reports earlier this month quoted him saying that he would be joining a 'very big club' during the summer.

However, the midfielder was quick to dismiss the 'fake' comments, and he reiterated that his future may only be decided at the end of the current campaign.

Speaking in Friday's press-conference, Klopp was asked about the midfielder's situation where he said that the club are still open to finalising an extension.

"What is the situation at the moment? Open. Nothing is decided. We are in talks with him and it is all good so far apart from he hasn't yet signed a contract for us. That is all, there is no problem with that," he is quoted as saying on the club's official website.

Can had to withdraw from the international friendlies for Germany owing to a back problem sustained at Watford, but Klopp is confident that the midfielder will return in time for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.
