Chelsea manager confirms double injury boost for West Ham game

Courtois, Pedro could return for Hammers clash

Chelsea manager confirms double injury boost for West Ham game

06 April 2018 - 17:52

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has confirmed that Thibaut Courtois and Pedro are in contention for this weekend's London derby against West Ham United in the Premier League.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move
  • Both Pedro and Courtois missed the game against Spurs last weekend, and the latter, in particular, had been suffering from a hamstring issue sustained prior to the international break.

Speaking ahead of the Hammers game, Conte revealed that the duo have returned to training, though a late fitness test may decide their involvement on Sunday.

"Pedro and Courtois could be back [in contention] though. We have two days to check the physical condition of the players, so we will see then. But we have Luiz and Ampadu out, certainly, but Pedro and Courtois we will look at," he said.

Chelsea have fallen eight points behind fourth-placed Spurs after their derby defeat last weekend, and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League look bleak barring a miracle.

The Blues still have much to play in terms of silverware as they are still in contention to lift the FA Cup. The west London giants have a semi-final tie against Southampton later this month.
