Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has dismissed suggestions that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suffered an injury during the backend of the Gunners' 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Gabon international netted his sixth Premier League goal for the club in just seven league matches, but saw himself substituted in the 71st minute in place of Alexandre Lacazette.

As a result, there were fears that the 28-year-old may have suffered a knock prior to his substitution, though Wenger dismissed the claim following the game.

"No [he’s not injured]. He looked a bit jaded in the end and I wanted to give Lacazette 20 minutes as well. Overall it worked well," he is quoted as saying by Metro.

With the goal, Aubameyang became the first player in the club's history to contribute seven goals in the opening seven league games, but he unfortunately cannot play in the Europa League this term.

The Gabonese footballer is ineligible with ex-club Borussia Dortmund having already participated in the competition, but the club still have the services of Lacazette to rely after his injury comeback.
