The 40-year-old has recently indicated that he would be ending his 17-year association with the Bianconeri but he has yet to announce his retirement from the game.

According to Premium Sport, the legendary shot-stopper has received several offers on and off the pitch and Liverpool are one of the sides waiting to pounce, should the veteran decide on a new challenge outside of his homeland.

Reds boss Jurgen Klop has relied on the services of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius between the sticks this term but the latter has been his first-choice since the turn of the year.

As such, Mignolet is likely to push for an exit during the summer and Buffon could be seen as a short-term option to replace the Belgian, if the management wishes to do so.
