Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly in the running to lure Jordi Alba from Barcelona during this summer's transfer window.

United boss Jose Mourinho has shown a keen interest on recruiting a new left-back this summer after being unconvinced by the likes of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian, who have failed to compete with Ashley Young for the position.

On the contrary, Chelsea have had good success with Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back spot and they are still said to be looking for an upgrade on the Spaniard ahead of next term.

According to Sport, Alba could consider a potential switch away from the Camp Nou this summer after being frustrated with the protracted transfer talks at the Catalan giants.

The Spaniard's current aim is to stay put with the Spanish champions but he could be tempted to consider a fresh challenge in the English top-flight with Chelsea and United vying for his signature.
