Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has told Sami Hyypia he must wait if he wishes to earn a new deal at the club. The Finn has fallen behind in the pecking order behind Martin Skrtel and Jamie Carragher at Anfield.
"I was talking with him but he knows we have to wait a little bit," Benitez told Liverpool's official website.
"The question now is to see how he progresses, but he knows my thoughts. We know him and he knows why we have to analyse the situation."
It seems Hyypia is desperate to sign up for a new contract for at least a year.
