05 June 2018 - 14:32

Arsenal have completed the transfer of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus on a free transfer. The defender, who can play anywhere across the back line, has arrived at the club with a wealth of experience having been the most regular defender in Serie A over the last 8 seasons.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The Swiss defender, currently on international duty for the World Cup, has been linked with a move to North London for several months and newly installed manager Unai Emery confirmed the deal.

“Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad,” Emery told Arsenal’s official website.

“He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude. Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.”

The defender added: "It is a project to come back into the Champions League, it is hard not to see a club like Arsenal that is not playing in the Champions League if you see the players, the club, the stadium. The big objective is to come back on the highest level."
