Bournemouth bid for Chris Mepham rejected

16 June 2018 - 09:02

Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe is ready to start his summer transfer business and has already made a bid for Brentford defender Chris Mepham. According to Sky Sports, the Cherries' opening offer of £10 million has already been turned down and the Welsh international has been told that he will be expected to stay at Brentford for the upcoming Championship season.

  • Eddie Howe has impressively built a Premier League side not just capable of securing survival, but also attaining a mid-table league finish. He has constructed a side of high-performing and affordable talent and it is understood that Mepham could be a potential bargain if Brentford do allow the defender to leave for Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old defender has been a revelation since forcing his way into the club's first team at Griffin Park, and Brentford have already had to turn down multiple offers for the starlet having seen multiple Premier League clubs scout the Welsh international.

Bournemouth are still confident that they can match Brentford's asking price - whatever that may be - and that the defender will be playing in England's top flight from next season.
