Russia 2018: Mbappe is quicker than Ronaldo - Deschamps

30 June 2018 - 17:39

France coach has reacted to comparisons between Kylian Mbappe and the great Ronaldo Nazario of Brazil, describing his player as the quicker one in terms of speed.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • He said this after Led Blues defeating Argentina by four goals to three in the second round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Mbappe scored twice for his side, with his pace causing problems for the Argentine defence.

"Ronaldo was a forward player who was very, very quick. I think Kylian is even quicker," he said, BBC reports.

Deschamps went ahead to say that Mbappe has a lot of abilities and qualities, and that he will improve as he gets older.

It was a very interesting game between two former champions. After a poor group stage for Argentina, they had hopes of qualifying when they went 2-1 ahead early in the second half, but three goals France buried their hopes. Aguero gave Argentina and Messi a glimmer of hope with another goal to make it 4-3 in added time, but the French held on for a win.

Except Lionel Messi decides to play in the Qatar World Cup in 2022, it is safe to say that the Barcelona great ended his career without the World Cup trophy.
