Mina on the move?

Liverpool enter race for Colombia's World Cup star

03 July 2018 - 23:57

Liverpool have reportedly joined Fenerbahce in the pursuit to sign Yerry Mina from Barcelona this summer. The Colombia international only joined the Catalans from Palmeiras last winter but his future has come into question with Clement Lenglet seemingly close to joining the club.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • According to Fotomac, the Reds are now prepared to go head-to-head with Fener in the race to sign the centre-back, who was one of his country's standout performers at the World Cup.

Mina recently became only the second player in World Cup history to score three headed goals in a single edition but unfortunately, his best efforts could not help Colombia progress beyond the round of 16 stage.

Nevertheless, he has made a notable name for himself via his strong performances and the next few weeks may define where his future lies next season.

The Blaugrana are presently close to signing Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Gremio and this may as well witness Mina's exit as only three non-EU players are allowed as per La Liga rules.

Philippe Coutinho and compatriot Paulinho are the other two none EU-based players who have been registered by Barcelona over the past couple of transfer windows.
