Uruguay face striker concerns ahead of France clash

Suarez, Cavani could miss France game

Uruguay face striker concerns ahead of France clash

04 July 2018 - 12:26

Uruguay could find themselves without both Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani for Friday's World Cup quarter-final against France.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Cavani picked up a calf injury during the backend of Uruguay's 2-1 win over Portugal in the round of 16 stage and the team have since been sweating over his fitness with him being unable to take part in any training sessions.

According to Marca, Uruguay appear to have received another potential blow with Suarez, who is said to have injured his right leg while training at the team's base in Nizhny Novgorod.

The Barcelona star did manage to return to the field later on but manager Oscar Tabarez is concerned whether he can count on the country's leading frontmen for the clash versus Les Bleus.

Uruguay have possessed a strong backline which has conceded just a solitary goal in the calendar year but they are likely to face a stiff test versus France, who possess the mesmerising talents of Kylian Mbappe.
