Frank sees red but Blues win

Frank sees red but Blues win

01 March 2008 - 18:50

Frank Lampard picked up a red card on his return to old club West Ham today as Chelsea battled to an impressive 4-0 victory over the Hammers at Upton Park.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • The England midfielder began his career at the Hammers before joining Chelsea for £11 million. He has never enjoyed his visits to Upton Park, and today was very much a mixed set of fortunes for Frank.

First, Lampard stroked in from the penalty spot after Anton Ferdinand was judged to have fouled Salomon Kalou in the area.

Four minutes later, Joe Cole made it 2-0 with a drilled shot from the edge of the box after Anelka supplied the pass.

West Ham were given a lifeline as Lampard was sent-off following an altercation with Boa Morte. Lampard appeared to push the former Fulham midfielder which sparked an 18-man melee.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Chelsea added to their lead. Joe Cole's initial shot was blocked by Green but Ashley Cole was on hand to slot in from a tight angle for his first Chelsea goal.

They are very much still in the Premiership race.
