Inter Milan want Manchester United defender

26 July 2018 - 07:11

Inter Milan are looking to bring Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian on loan to the club, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The versatile defender has been the subject of transfer rumours with reports linking him with a move back to Italy.

Darmian has also been linked with Serie A side Juventus whose player (Alex Sandro) United are also interested in.

Darmian, who was promising in his early days at United, has been unable to nail down a starting place under Jose Mourinho. He made only eight English Premier League appearances last season.

Antonio Valencia is currently Mourinho's favourite at right-back but the Ecuadorian is currently injured and Darmian leaving could leave United lacking in that area when the season begins.

United signed Darmian from Torino in the summer of 2015 for a fee reported to be £12.7m.

Darmian is currently on tour with the Old Trafford side in the United States and captained United in their penalty shoot-out victory over AC Milan in the International Champions Cup.
