Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is reported to have snubbed advances from Chelsea despite the Blues triggering the £90m release clause in his contract.
The Blues were in desperation to pursue a replacement for Thibaut Courtois during the dying stages of the transfer window after the Belgium pushed for a move to Real Madrid.
Eventually, the Capital outfit acquired the services of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao to compensate for Courtois' exit but The Times suggests that he was not the preferred choice
As per the publication, the Blues were initially keen on wrapping up the services of Jan Oblak from Atleti but the move broke through owing to the club's lack of Champions League football.
Oblak has been a key contributor for Atleti over the past four seasons and during this period, he has won the Europa League and the Spanish Super Cup.
He presently has three years remaining on his existing deal but talks are already underway to reward him with an improved wage package as well as increase his buy-out clause.
