Napoli are reportedly aiming to beat Besiktas to the services of Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina this summer. The Colombia international has been deemed surplus to requirements under Unai Emery following the summer signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Calciomercato, the Naples outfit are still interested in signing the Colombian shot-stopper, whom they regard as a suitable option to take up the number one role.
Over the past week, Besiktas have made progress towards signing the former Nice man but they are still far off from finalising the move as they are only said to fancy a season-long loan.
As a result, Napoli could jump ahead in the player's pursuit, though nothing is for certain with club president Aurelio de Laurentiis reluctant to pay a significant sum for a new shot-stopper.
Napoli were initially expected to go with loan signing Alex Meret in goal for the forthcoming campaign and they have been forced to re-enter the transfer market after the Udinese man broke his arm.
