Zinedine Zidane wants the Old Trafford job

15 August 2018 - 11:50

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is prepared to play the waiting time in order to succeed Jose Mourinho as the Manchester United head coach.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Earlier in the summer, the Frenchman made the surprise decision to re-sign from Los Blancos following a third successive Champions League crown and he has since linked with a number of vacancies.

Nonetheless, the former World Cup winner appear intent on waiting for the Old Trafford job with Mourinho's position with United likely to be under consideration, L'Equipe reports.

Mourinho endured a rather frustrating 2017/18 campaign where United failed to pick up a single trophy and his relationship with the board appears to have since taken a downslide after not being backed in the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician has helped United secure an opening day victory over Leicester City but the hierarchy may consider his position in the future, should they drop off quickly from the title race this season.
