Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic is reported to have rejected the opportunity to join Manchester United after failing to receive a strong backing from manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician had wanted the Croatian to add a physical presence in the frontline alongside Romelu Lukaku but the 32-year-old is said to have snubbed the Red Devils' advances.
According to Calciomercato, the marksman did not feel he had the full support from Mourinho over the proposed transfer and this urged him to continue working under Max Allegri at the Allianz Stadium.
Mandzukic scored his first Juventus goal of the campaign during the 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday and this sees the Bianconeri at the top of the standings after two games into the Serie A season.
On the contrary, United have not enjoyed a similar start to their Premier League campaign and they have already dropped three points after a rather shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.
