Zappacosta open to January Chelsea exit

Chelsea defender open to Inter Milan move

28 August 2018 - 10:12

Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta has talked up the possibility of joining Inter Milan when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

  • Chelsea eyeing shock move for 24yo AC Milan star
  • Michael Carrick praises Man Utd star after Sunderland draw
  • The Italy international was heavily tipped for a move to San Siro during the summer but ultimately he decided to stay put with the Blues.

However, his position remains feeble with Cesar Azpilcueta ahead of him in the pecking order for the right-back role and he has now hinted that he could consider his future in January with the Nerazzurri still holding an interest.

"There's a lot of competition here, but I want to win a place in the XI. After that, it's clear that if I didn't find much room, I don't think any player would like that." he is quoted as saying by Evening Standard.

Victor Moses had been the first-choice pick for the right wing-back role during the previous campaign but the change in formation has meant that Azpilicueta has returned to his preferred right-back role under Maurizio Sarri.

Based on recent seasons, Moses would probably be a candidate for the right-back role but that does not seem the case so far with Sarri operating him further ahead up the field.
