Juventus aim to tie down Chelsea target to lucrative deal

10 September 2018 - 00:16

Juventus are reportedly aiming to cool down Chelsea's interest in Daniele Rugani by committing the Italian to a new long-term contract.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Blues had tabled a 'big offer' for the central defender during the summer transfer window but their advances were swiftly knocked back by Juve.

Despite this, the Blues have continued to maintain an interest in the Old lady graduate but Corriere dello Sport claims that their pursuit may soon come to a dead end.

The Blues are said to have planned to lure Rugani in the New Year following the Bianconeri's decision to re-sign Leonardo Bonucci but their idea could be scuppered with Juve already in contract talks with the defender.

Rugani has not been able to cement a regular starting role since graduating through the club system but manager Massimiliano Allegri has still made the renewal his top priority for the ongoing campaign.

The Italian presently has three years remaining on his existing deal with the club. He has previously featured under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri during their time together at Empoli.
