Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has allayed fears that Virgil van Dijk has suffered a serious injury during the recent Premier League triumph versus Southampton.
The Netherlands international was substituted during the second half of the 3-0 home win over the Saints and it had therefore been suggested that the defender had suffered a bruised rib.
Despite this, Klopp has suggested that there is nothing much to worry about and the Dutchman should be fine ahead of the double-header against rivals Chelsea.
"He already had a bruise in the ribs before the PSG game, which is very uncomfortable and he got another hit there," he said. It's not cool but should not be too serious. It should be absolutely OK, hopefully. I didn't hear anything different."
Liverpool are scheduled to face Chelsea in the League Cup and Premier League respectively in the forthcoming week and the first of those is scheduled for a Wednesday night kick-off.
Klopp's men have made the perfect start to the season with six victories from their opening six league games and this sees them comfortably placed at the top of the standings with a two-point advantage over both Chelsea and Manchester City.
