Rafael Benitez to leave Newcastle United?

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly considering the prospect of leaving the Magpies, should they not back him with funds in the coming transfer window.

Benitez has frequently suggested that the need to strengthen the squad but owner Mike Ashley has been reluctant to spend vast sums on players as he is said to be awaiting offers to sell the club.

According to The Mirror, Benitez presently has just 10 months left on his existing deal at St James' Park and he is willing to walk away from the club, if he is not backed in the transfer market at the turn of the year.

The Magpies have made a poor start to the season with just two points from their opening six games but it could be said that they have been up against some of the elite teams who have dominated the proceedings.

Nonetheless, their recent Premier League record does not make for good reading with nine defeats from 11 matches - considering from the backend of the previous campaign.
