    Liverpool on the counter

Much of Liverpool's play will be counter attacking as Torres admits: "Now we can look to the Inter Milan game with confidence," he declared. "It is a very important game for us, and we must keep this form going.

"We are confident of progressing in the competition in the San Siro. We had an excellent victory against Inter at Anfield, and we know if we score one goal in Milan it makes it very difficult for them, already 2-0 behind.

"They are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment, but we are confident.

"We expect to play deep and try for the counter-attack, and although we know Inter are a good team the first goal is very important.

"If we score first it will be difficult for them to score four times."

    Rafa focused on Inter

Rafa Benitez hopes to make Liverpool the Premiership's fourth entrant for the Champions League quarters: "We are thinking only about the game. The aim is to do what we have been doing before against Inter, and we know that if we score then we win the tie."

    Mancini: we'll score three

"We need three goals to qualify in 90 minutes and this side is capable of it. Liverpool did not create much in the first leg. But they kept us under pressure and, unfortunately, the last five minutes proved decisive. Yet I still think we can do it. Any result is possible."

Xabi Alonso will be missing after his girlfriend had gone into labour, and Javier Mascherano will return from a groin injury. Steve Finnan will miss the game with an ankle problem. Marco Matterazzi misses out through suspension. Cristian Chivu will be fit for the game.
