Arsenal manager Unai Emery has urged the club to acquire the signature of Ever Banega from Sevilla, should they part ways with Aaron Ramsey midway through the season.
The north London outfit have found no success in committing Ramsey to a new contract and it appears likely that he may be sold in January with his existing deal expiring at the end of the campaign.
According to The Sun, Emery is prepared to sanction Ramsey's sale during the forthcoming transfer window and he could thereafter instruct the club to make an approach to sign Banega from his ex-club Sevilla.
Emery has previously utilised the services of Banega during his time at both Valencia and Sevilla and it is suggested that the Gunners may seek to lure him to the Emirates in the New Year with the promise of sizeable wage hike.
Arsenal recently picked up their sixth straight win across all competitions after a 3-1 League Cup triumph over Brentford and they can extend the run further when they host Watford this weekend.
