Chelsea manager Sarri wishes that he had Higuain at club

13 October 2018 - 12:46

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri admits that he misses the "automatic jackpot" of goals that striker Gonzalo Higuain provides. Sarri coached Higuain at former club Napoli and the Italian coach has admitted he wanted to sign the Argentinian forward when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Higuain instead decided to make a move to AC Milan as Chelsea opted not to bring a new striker to the club during the last summer transfer window.

Sarri is a big fan of Higuain and told reporters: “Whatever response I give will be considered wrong and put words into my mouth. All I can say is that I feel Gonzalo left Napoli too soon. If he had stayed for another season, I think we could’ve been in a condition to win.

“Higuain was a part of the fantastic mechanism we created, we understood each other so well.

“It was perfect synchronicity and the regrets will probably stick with us.

“I miss Higuain a great deal. I miss him because he’ll keep scoring goals until the day he dies.

“He is a goal machine, a systematic and automatic jackpot.”
