Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly desperate to finalise new contracts for Spanish midfield duo Ander Herrera and Juan Mata.
The midfield pairing will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and this has witnessed them linked with potential returns to the Spanish La Liga next summer.
As such, Mourinho is determined to prolong their stays and Evening Standard reports that the Portuguese will seek to push through deals for the duo in the forthcoming months.
Neither Herrera nor Mata have cemented regular spots this campaign but Mourinho is said to be pleased with their influence whenever they have been offered an opportunity on the field.
Aside from the duo, the likes of Luke Shaw and David de Gea are also in contention for contract extensions with the Mancunian giants, who face Chelsea on the road in this weekend's Premier League game.
