Arsenal fear the worst for Danny Welbeck after horror injury

Welbeck likely to miss rest of the season after ankle damage

Arsenal fear the worst for Danny Welbeck after horror injury

10 November 2018 - 20:00

Arsenal are reportedly concerned that Danny Welbeck could miss the remainder of the season after suffering a serious ankle injury in midweek against Sporting.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The England international had been in a good run of form in the Cup and European competitions this term but on Thursday, his appearance was brought to an abrupt end after he sustained a bad injury in a 1-1 draw.

According to The Mail, the former Manchester United graduate is said to have suffered a break, dislocation and ligament damage to his ankle and this may keep him out for the rest of the season.

Moreover, this may also spell an end to his Gunners career with his existing deal expiring in eight months' time. Welbeck has failed to convince the board into a new deal up to now and his latest setback may prevent any talks regarding his future with the club.

Welbeck has contributed 32 goals for the Gunners since joining them from Manchester United four years ago. He has previously suffered two long-term knee injuries during his time at the Emirates.
