Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku could return to the matchday squad for their league derby at Manchester City on Sunday.
The Belgium international has missed the previous two matches through an injury but he has returned to first-team training ahead of the weekend's Manchester derby.
Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho confirmed that the Belgian has shown positive signs since returning to say but refused to confirm whether he would feature from the off against the Citizens.
"Lukaku is training with the team this morning. If the answer is positive - and we have of course one more session tomorrow - he is ready. In this moment, I can only say that he trains with the team," he said.
Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford have been utilised up front in the recent absence of Lukaku but one of them may have to make way, should the Belgian lead the club's attack at the Etihad Stadium.
Lukaku started the season with four goals from just five matches but he has since come for immense criticism after failing to score in the nine appearances which have followed.
