Mourinho wants Koulibaly at Old Trafford

Manchester United boss determined to sign Napoli defender

16 November 2018 - 09:44

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on luring Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Red Devils were linked with a number of top-class centre-backs during the summer but Mourinho was ultimately left frustrated with the club failing to strengthen the heart of the defence.

According to The Record, Mourinho is likely to communicate his transfer ambition to the club in the forthcoming weeks and he is determined to pursue a central defender in the New Year.

It is added that Koulibaly is the prime target for the Portuguese tactician despite him having only signed a fresh five-year contract in Naples earlier in the season.

Aside from United, Koulibaly has been regularly linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea but they have not managed to get a deal over the line with Napoli remaining reluctant to sell in the past few seasons.
