Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri has joined West Ham United on a free transfer shortly after his doping ban reached its conclusion.
The Frenchman had been training with the east London outfit for the past month and it was suggested that he could pen a contract based on the fitness on display.
However, it appears that he has managed to sufficiently impress manager Manuel Pellegrini and has been offered a short-term deal for the season with the option of an additional year.
"I am very pleased to welcome Samir to West Ham United. He is a player I obviously know well from our time together at Manchester City and I am happy to be working with him again," Pellegrini told the club's website.
Nasri may not be drafted straight into the starting lineup after a one-year absence from the playing field but he would nonetheless provide the attacking depth with Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko sidelined for the rest of the season.
