Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is reportedly keen on sealing a permanent move to Chelsea from Real Madrid when the current season concludes.

  • The World Cup finalist joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Los Blancos last summer and he has since managed 34 appearances for the club in all competitions.

According to El Chiringuito, the midfielder is said to have no ambition of returning to the Bernabeu and he has apparently informed of his desire to remain with the Blues.

Nonetheless, his future may depend on the position of manager Maurizio Sarri, who has come under immense pressure amid the club's poor run of results since the turn of the year.

Kovacic recently featured from the starting lineup against Manchester United on Monday night where the Blues were eliminated from the FA Cup in the fifth round.

The Croatian did not make much of a difference during the course of that game and he could be replaced by Ross Barkley for the European meeting against Malmo tomorrow.
