Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that he is surprised by the ongoing speculation which has linked Matteo Guendouzi with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The French footballer was largely unknown during his time at Lorient until he made the move to the Emirates Stadium in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The midfielder has since settled into the Gunners first-team with ease with more than 30 appearances and his performances are said to have caught the attention of Les Parisiens.

Speaking ahead of the Southampton game, Emery said that he has been surprised by the transfer link regarding Guendouzi and he would prefer not to discuss on the same matter.

"I am surprised [by the speculation]. I don't want this. His development is like we want. He has a big ambition, big quality," he said in a press conference via The Mirror.

Guendouzi has recently emerged as a £60m transfer target for the French champions but judging by Emery's comments, Arsenal are likely to turn down the chance of cashing in on the midfielder.
