Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is close to securing the permanent move to Napoli after impressing during the ongoing season-long loan agreement.

  • The Colombian joined the Naples outfit on a temporary basis during the summer after their previous summer signing Alex Meret sustained a shoulder injury in pre-season.

Ospina has since made 17 appearances for the club across all competitions but the return of Meret has meant that his gametime has been scattered through the campaign.

Nonetheless, manager Carlo Ancelotti recently assured that Ospina will remain with Napoli next term and according to Calciomercato, the club have already made progress regarding the same with the Gunners.

It had been predicted that Ospina would cost around £8m for the permanent switch but reports now indicate that the Gunners are willing to accept a cut-price deal worth £3.48m to sanction the sale.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been fancied to pursue another shot-stopper during the summer with current second-choice Petr Cech having decided to retire from the game at the end of the season.
